Some constituency executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ejisu reportedly confronted the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Jerryne Asante, at her office on Monday over an alleged misunderstanding concerning a warehouse, sources have told http://Odonkoanews.com.
Details of the incident remain unclear. The reported confrontation is said to be linked to a disagreement over the management or allocation of a warehouse facility in the municipality. The exact nature of the misunderstanding has not been officially confirmed.
When contacted, the Ashanti Regional Organizer of the NDC, Mr. Isham Alhassan Bonsu, acknowledged the reports and condemned any acts of misconduct by party members.
“We do not condone attacks on government appointees. The party has structures for resolving internal disagreements,” Mr. Alhassan Bonsu said. He assured that the regional executives would investigate the matter and take appropriate action against any party executives or members found to have acted improperly.
Attempts to reach Hon. Jerryne Asante for comment were unsuccessful at press time. The Ejisu Municipal Assembly has not issued an official statement on the incident.
The Ghana Police Service in Ejisu could not immediately confirm if a formal complaint had been lodged.
Tensions between party executives and MMDCEs over project management and resource allocation have occurred in several constituencies nationwide. The NDC is the current ruling party.
