At least 15 feared dead in three-vehicle crash near Konongo

At least 15 people are feared dead following a fatal three-vehicle collision at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region.

The crash involved a cargo truck transporting tomatoes, a passenger bus and a fuel tanker that was not carrying fuel at the time of the accident.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially established. However, eyewitnesses told our reporter that the crash followed an alleged wrongful overtaking manoeuvre, which resulted in a head-on collision.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene to rescue trapped victims, as heavy traffic builds up on the road.

Moments later, a second accident happened at Dadieso close to Konongo, adding to to growing concerns over road safety on the busy Kumasi-Accra Highway.
