Nhyira Charity Foundation, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, has organized a one-day career guidance and fair for BECE candidates in the Asante Mampong Municipality.
The 2026 fair aimed to prepare students for life after Junior High School and reduce examination malpractice ahead of the BECE, scheduled for June 4.
Nhyira Adjei Peprah, Founder of Nhyira Charity Foundation, cautioned students against negative peer influence when choosing Senior High School programmes.
“Most students follow their friends to choose programmes after JHS and it affects them later,” Mr. Peprah said. “Poor decisions now could affect your future path.”
He said the sensitization forms part of efforts to guide students toward viable career options and curb exam malpractice.

Guest speaker Dr. Patrick Essien, Deputy Director in charge of Mining at the Environmental Protection Agency and a TVET expert, urged students to consider vocational and technical programmes.
“TVET offers real jobs. Don’t look down on technical and vocational skills,” Dr. Essien said. He cited strong job opportunities for TVET graduates after school.

Municipal Director of Education Mr. Prince Owusu Ansah also addressed the candidates. He warned against examination malpractice, saying it could destroy their education and future careers.
“Stay away from examination malpractice. It has a negative impact,” Mr. Owusu Ansah said.
The career fair brought together BECE candidates from various schools in the municipality for counselling on course selection, career paths, and exam preparation.
