Release Funds For Buffer stock To Procure Our Farm Produces” Atebubu Farmers Cry On Government

Farmers in Atebubu Amante are crying out for help, pleading with the government to release funds to the Buffer Stock to purchase their produce.

Speaking to the minority caucus, they revealed that prices have plummeted – a bag of maize now sells for GH₵200, down from GH₵1600.

The farmers are frustrated that despite hearing about the GH₵200 million allocation to Buffer Stock, their produce is rotting away as the government isn’t buying.

They’re also struggling with high fertilizer and input costs, contradicting reports of declining inflation.

One farmer lamented, “We’re at the mercy of middlemen who dictate prices.

We need the government to intervene before it’s too late.” The situation is dire, and farmers are urging the government to act swiftly to salvage their livelihoods.

The Minority Chief Whip Hon. Annoh-Dompreh also added his voice to what the farmers were saying.
