Two people are in critical condition* after a clash during the NPP polling station executive election in Ahafo Ano North, with reports of stabbing, machetes, and warning shots.
The incident occurred during the party’s polling station election in Tepa. Some NPP sympathizers said the violence followed disputes over the conduct of the process.
Aggrieved members alleged that the voter album was manipulated to allow only supporters of the incumbent MP, Hon. Nana Agyemang Prempeh, to vote. They also claimed that nursing training and Tepa SHS students voted without verification, including individuals they said were NDC sympathizers.
The group called on national, regional, and constituency executives to intervene and halt the elections until the issues are resolved fairly. They urged the MP and party executives to stop the use of “macho men” to intimidate members and to restore due process and confidence in the party at the grassroots.
As of now, police have not released an official statement on the incident. The two injured persons were reported to be receiving treatment.
