We’re Not At War With Orthodox Health Workers–Dr Amagashie

Chief Executive Officer of Amagashie Herbal Clinic, Apostle Dr. Samuel Amagashie, says herbal medicine practitioners are not in conflict with orthodox health professionals, instead, both groups share the same goal of delivering quality healthcare to Ghanaians.

Speaking to journalists, Dr. Amagashie urged key stakeholders, including the government and Ministry of Health, to create platforms that will integrate both systems for equal service delivery.

He also appealed to government to extend the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, coverage to patients who seek treatment at licensed herbal clinics. “Ghanaians patronise herbal medicine in large numbers.

If NHIS covers orthodox hospitals, herbal clinics that meet standards should also be included,” he argued.

Dr. Amagashie further stressed the need for Ghana to establish a Herbal Nursing Training College.

He said such an institution would train more young people, professionalise the sector, and promote evidence-based herbal medicine practice.
