Severe flooding has submerged sections of the main road linking Manso Akwasiso to Manso Nkran, leaving passengers and drivers stranded for nearly a week.

The rivers overflowed and took over the route, cutting off vehicular movement and disrupting the transportation of people and goods in the Amansie South District.

In response, the Amansie South District Assembly, with support from Asanko Gold Ghana Limited, has begun rehabilitation works on the affected stretch. The project involves reshaping the Manso Akwasiso–Manso Nkran road and rock-filling critical sections to restore access.

Site Manager for Asanko Gold Mines, Mr. Justice Fenteng, said the rock-filling phase for both the Akwasiso–Koniase Nkran route and the Manso Abiram section is expected to be completed within the next 10 to 14 days.

During the ongoing reshaping works, District Chief Executive Hon. Benjamin Marfo, Presiding Member and Manso Adubia Electoral Area Assembly Member Hon. Peter Awere, other Assembly Members, security personnel, and Assembly staff were on site to inspect progress.

Hon. Marfo commended Asanko Gold Mines for its swift response and collaboration with the Assembly, noting that restoring the road will enhance transportation, facilitate trade, and boost socio-economic activity in the affected communities.

Hon Peter Awere, presiding member for Amansie South district on behalf of the assembly members in the affected communities expressed gratitude to the management of Asanko Gold mines for the intervention.
