ROAD CRASH: 5 RESCUED AS THREE VEHICLES COLLIDE AT KONONGO LADY DIANA

GNFS rescuers from the Konongo Fire Station, led by Leading Fireman (LFM) Siale Richard, responded to a vehicular crash involving a MAN Diesel Tanker (GN 4470-22) carrying 54,000 litres of diesel, a DAF XF Truck (GN 1591-20), and a Toyota Matiz Taxi (SE 6425-14) at Konongo Lady Diana on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The distress call was received at 1536 hours, with the crew arriving at the scene at 1548 hours. Rescue operations were completed at 1610 hours.

Preliminary reports indicate that the three vehicles were involved in a collision. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation. No fatalities were recorded.

The crash resulted in extensive damage to the vehicles. The cowl of the MAN diesel tanker was completely damaged, the offside of the DAF XF truck sustained partial damage, while the Toyota Matiz taxi was completely wrecked.

A total of five (5) persons sustained injuries, comprising three males and two females. Four (4) of the victims were rescued before the arrival of the crew and transported to Steward Hospital, while one (1) person was rescued by the crew and conveyed to the same hospital in a Police pickup (GP 671).

The crew successfully salvaged 54,000 litres of diesel from the tanker, averting a potential fire using foam concentrate and environmental hazard.

The Ghana National Fire Service expresses its appreciation to officers of the Konongo MTTD for their operational support in securing the scene and facilitating the smooth flow of traffic on the stretch.

The crew returned to station at 1801 hours after successfully managing the incident.
