Somoco Ghana Unveils All-New Powerful Bajaj RE Tricycle in Kumasi

Somoco Ghana Ltd has launched the all-new, more powerful Bajaj RE tricycle in Kumasi, featuring upgraded safety improvements including a left-hand brake system for Ghana’s roads.

As the sole authorised distributor of Bajaj auto motorbikes and three-wheelers in Ghana, Somoco Ghana, a subsidiary of the Mohinani Group, specialises in durable, fuel-efficient vehicles built for tough West African terrain. The company’s lineup includes the popular Boxer motorcycle and the “yellow-yellow” Bajaj RE auto-rickshaw.

The Kumasi launch drew distributors, engineers, mechanics, members of the National Union of Tricycle Operators Ghana, NUTOG, and other key stakeholders in the tricycle business.

Addressing journalists, Mr. Peter Dzassah, Area Sales Manager of Somoco Ghana, said _pragyia_ tricycles drive more than six economic channels in Ghana. “The positive impact starts from the producers of the machine, through distributors, owners, riders, mechanics, and finally passengers who use it to meet their business and transport needs on time,” he noted.

Mr. Sanjay Daberao, General Manager of Somoco Ghana, reaffirmed the company’s focus on safety and training: “We are committed to ensuring safety for riders on our roads through better machine design and rider education.”

Mr. Seidu Mubarak, Ashanti Regional Chairman of NUTOG, used the platform to appeal to President John Mahama to assent to the amended Road Traffic Regulations so operators can legally engage in commercial passenger transport, following Parliament’s passage of the “Okada Bill”.

Hamza Hafiz, National Chairman of NUTOG, commended Somoco Ghana for the new Bajaj RE model, describing it as “the best offer yet to promote and sustain tricycle businesses”.
