The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency, Hon. Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, has described the Kumasi-Accra road as a _“death trap”_ that needs urgent government intervention.
Speaking in Parliament to comment on unsecured international containers statement, the MP raised concerns over the deteriorating state of the highway, saying what used to be a 3 to 4 hour journey now takes *over 8 hours* due to bad road conditions.

Hon. Prof. Nyarko was responding to issues raised in the House about the number of faulty trucks and accidents on the stretch. He referenced the recent crash at Konongo which claimed over 10 lives as evidence of how dangerous the road has become.
_“We cannot continue to lose innocent lives on this road. The Kumasi-Accra highway is critical to the economy and to human lives. Government must find an immediate solution,”_ he stated.

The MP is calling on the Ministry of Roads and Highways to prioritize rehabilitation works and enforce stricter regulations on unroadworthy trucks operating on the route.
