ACCIDENT REPORT AT OSINO CLINIC ENTRANCE (MISA FUEL STATION) FANTEAKWA SOUTH

An accident has occurred this dawn at 4:30am at the Osino Clinic entrance along the Kumasi–Accra highway, involving a Kia truck loaded with yam and a VIP bus with registration number AC-1229-25

According to preliminary information, the Kia truck was travelling from the Northern Region through the Eastern Region towards Accra. Upon reaching Osino, the driver reportedly became drowsy and began dozing off while driving. The truck subsequently veered from its lane into the path of an oncoming VIP bus travelling from Accra towards Kumasi.

In an attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the VIP bus driver reportedly swerved off the road and ended up at the Misa Filling Station at Osino. The Kia truck subsequently collided with the VIP bus, resulting in a serious accident.

There have been no reported fatalities at the time of reporting. However, several passengers on board the VIP bus sustained injuries. Some reportedly suffered bruises and injuries to their heads, while others sustained various forms of bodily injuries.

The driver of the Kia truck reportedly regained consciousness after the accident and jumped out of the vehicle.

Some of the injured passengers have been transported to the Osino Clinic for emergency medical attention, while others have been taken to the Osiem Hawa Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Passengers who are in relatively good condition remain at the scene, awaiting transportation back to their respective destinations.

Personnel from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), OSINO and the Ghana Police Service are currently at the scene assisting with traffic management and the removal of yams scattered across the highway. The yams are being moved from the middle of the road to the sides to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles and ensure the safety of other road users.

The full extent of the injuries and damage caused by the accident is yet to be officially confirmed.
