Establish Corporate Mining At Obuasi Airport To Create Jobs-MCE Proposes

The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi Municipality,Hon Faustilove Appiah Kannin,has assured assembly support for the ongoing fight against illegal mining on the land at Obuasi Airport.

Responding to the recent seizure of excavators on the site by Ashanti regional Reclamation team led Alhaji Abdullah Nje,the MCE suggested to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to consider using a portion of the land to establish corporate mining.

According to her, this will help create jobs for the youth and provide a regulated alternative to illegal mining in the area.

She reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to work with National Security, NADMO, and other stakeholders to reclaim degraded lands and sanitize the small-scale mining sector in Obuasi.
