Unit Committee Breaks Ground For 48-Lockable Market Complex At Manso Tontokrom

The Unit Committee of Manso Tontokrom in the Amansie South District, Ashanti Region, has cut sod for the construction of a 48-lockable stall market complex in the community.

According to the committee, the project forms part of its self-help development initiatives which also include the construction of classroom blocks, road reshaping, security, and the creation of employment opportunities for residents.

Speaking to newsmen during the sod-cutting ceremony, Mr. Frank Owusu, Unit Committee Secretary, said the complex will have 48 lockable stalls and is scheduled to be completed within six months through communal labour.

He appealed to individuals and stakeholders to support the project, adding that once completed it will create a conducive business environment for traders and boost economic activities in the area.

Nana Adu Gyamfi, Mmamahene of Manso Tontokrom, also used the occasion to appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to extend the government’s _Big Push_ road agenda to the community to attract more traders.

Some opinion leaders at the event added their voices, calling on government to consider the Amansie South District in its road infrastructure agenda.
