The Queenmother of Effiduase Bomeng in the Sekyere Kumawu District,Nana Yaa Akyiaa I, has marked her 2nd anniversary on the throne with a call to revive the cultural heritage of the people through the rekindling of the Bragoro Festival.
Addressing chiefs, elders, and residents during the anniversary celebration, Nana Yaa Akyiaa said the Bragoro Festival, which celebrates the passage of young girls into womanhood, played a key role in preserving tradition, discipline, and cultural identity.
She noted that bringing back the festival will help instill good morals in young girls and strengthen community values that have been weakened over the years.
The event was marked with traditional rites, cultural displays, and prayers for peace and development in the area. Chiefs and community members pledged their support for the Queenmother’s initiative to revive the festival.
Nana Yaa Akyiaa expressed gratitude to her people for their support over the past two years and promised to continue championing education, women empowerment, and cultural preservation.
The traditional council used the occasion to honored three virgin ladies in the community who have abstained from sex, using them as role models to encourage other young girls.
Nana Kwarteng Agyekumhene II, Bomenhene of Bomeng in the Sekyere Kumawu District, has urged young ladies to abstain from early sex to help secure a better future for themselves.
The three honored ladies took the opportunity to advise their peers to abstain from early sex, noting that it can derail their career paths and educational goals.
