Denkyira Traditional Council Clashes With Dunkwa Divisional Council Over Shrine

The Denkyira Traditional Council and the Dunkwa Divisional Council in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region have clashed over the ownership of a shrine in the community.

According to information available, both councils are claiming ownership of the shrine,(Asoni3so) resulting in frequent confrontations.

During last Sunday’s Akwasidae Festival celebration, it took personnel of the Ghana Police Service to intervene and calm the situation.

Dr Okofrobuor Obeng Nuako, Dunkwahene, speaking after the recent clashes, called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Minister for National Security, and the Minister for Chieftaincy Affairs to intervene before the situation gets out of hand since there are more Akwasidae festivals ahead.
