Sub-chiefs and residents of Manso Kensere in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region are appealing to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asafohene, Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, to intervene and help settle an ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the community.

They say the dispute has the potential to disturb the peace and unity of the community and are therefore calling for the matter to be addressed through the appropriate traditional channels.

According to them, Nana Kwakye Koayie Fosu Siaw has demonstrated commitment to the development of the community, particularly in education, electrification and the promotion of unity.
They said they were therefore surprised when an information van allegedly went around the community announcing that another person was ready to take over as chief.
The residents questioned the development, insisting that Manso Kensere has only one chief and expressing concern that the emergence of another claimant could create confusion and tension in the community.

Speaking at a media briefing, the sub-chiefs and residents appealed to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asafohene to intervene and help find a peaceful and lasting resolution to the matter.
They also appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, to help maintain peace and security in the community and prevent any situation that could threaten public order.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Agona Royal Family, Nana Kwadwo Donkor, has also joined the call for the intervention of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asafohene.
Nana Kwadwo Donkor appealed to the Asantehene and the Asafohene to intervene in the dispute and help resolve the matter through the appropriate traditional processes.
He stressed the need for all parties to work towards preserving peace, unity and stability in Manso Kensere.
