EFFIDUASE HEMAA CALLS FOR MUNICIPAL STATUS FOR SEKYERE EAST

The Queen Mother of the Effiduase Sub-Traditional Council, Nana Konadu Yiadom I, has appealed to the NDC government to upgrade the Sekyere East District Assembly to municipal status.

She noted that Sekyere East is among the oldest assemblies in Ghana and has birthed two other districts — Sekyere Kumawu and Sekyere Afram Plains.

Given its growth in population, she argued, the district now deserves municipal status.

Nana Konadu Yiadom I believes the upgrade would attract increased government support for development.

She made the call during a visit by NDC National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah as part of his thank you tour to Ashanti region.

Mr Johnson Aseidu Nketiah was flanked by the regional chairman of the party, Augustus Nana Akwasi and some party executives.

In response, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah assured her of the NDC government’s commitment to development in the district and commended the Queen Mother for her continued support to the party.

The meeting gives opportunity for the district chief executive, Hon Ibrahim Adams, to account to the people on NDC government commitment towards development in areas of education, health, sanitation, road reshaping, security and etc.
