Landlords and Tenants Not Reporting Rent Advance Violations to Rent Control-President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says both landlords and tenants are failing to report violations of the government’s proposed six-month rent advance limit to the Rent Control Department or police.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Green City Housing Project in Dedesua, Bosomtwe District, President Mahama said the lack of formal complaints has hindered enforcement of the directive.

He explained that government has set up a dedicated court to handle cases of non-compliance, but his assessment shows that no individuals have filed reports so far.

“The house owners and tenants are not ready to report each other. That is what is holding back implementation,” he said.

The president reiterated that the Green City Housing Project is a long-term national investment meant to secure housing for future generations, not a short-term political initiative.

He however retairated the government commitment to collaborate with financial institutions to provide loan package to montage companies to construction more housing units for Ghanaians.
