Pentecost Chairman: Awusi Controversy Has Increased Church’s Visibility

 

 

 

Accra — April 26, 2026

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has sought to ease tensions following the recent controversy involving the CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Dr. Mavis Awusi, stating that the situation has instead increased his and the church’s visibility.

 

Apostle Nyamekye made the remarks during a visit by the Chief of Staff to the church’s headquarters to thank God on the occasion of the Chairman’s birthday celebration.

 

_“What the enemy meant for evil, God has turned for good. The recent issues have not destroyed us; they have rather projected the church and my office into the public space for the gospel’s sake,”_ Apostle Nyamekye said.

 

He urged members to remain calm and prayerful, stressing that _“the church does not fight back with insults or bitterness. We respond with love, truth, and prayer.”_

The visit by the Chief of Staff was to express gratitude to God for the life of Apostle Nyamekye and to reaffirm government’s commitment to working with the church on national development.
