Atwima Behenase Queenmother Appeals for Urgent Repair of Collapsed Bridge, Streetlights

Atwima Behenase, Ashanti Region — April 27, 2026

The Queenmother of Atwima Behenase, Oheneyere Abena Komaa Dipah, has made a passionate appeal to government to urgently repair the community’s collapsed bridge linking *Behenase to Boko and Twedie*, and restore basic amenities to improve safety and livelihoods.

Speaking to journalists during a Traditional Council meeting, Oheneyere Dipah said the collapsed bridge and deteriorating road have made transportation difficult and left residents living in “constant fear and panic.”

“The situation is also affecting business activities, with traders struggling to move goods in and out of the community,” she said.

Compounding the hardship is a *complete outage of streetlights* in Behenase, plunging the area into darkness at night. The Queenmother revealed that the darkness has created opportunities for criminals, citing a recent burglary where “one household had all its belongings stolen just three days ago.”

“This is really terrible. People now live in fear because of the darkness, and thieves are taking advantage of it,” she said.

Oheneyere Dipah also urged government to provide *refuse bins* for the community to curb indiscriminate waste disposal, warning that poor sanitation poses a serious health risk to residents.

“We need streetlights so the community can stay safe, and we need refuse bins to keep our environment clean. Our health matters too,” she emphasized.

She is calling on the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Assembly and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to act swiftly before the situation worsens and further disrupts daily life in the community.
