Kumasi Residents in Suame Municipality Cry Out Over 2-Month Water Cut

For over two months, residents of Anomangye, Asuogya, Asuogya Junction, and nearby communities in Suame Municipality say they have had no water flowing from their taps.

The outage has forced families to rely on water vendors and tankers, driving up daily costs for cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene. Residents say the expense is unsustainable for many households.

Mothers report walking long distances with children to fetch water. Students are going to school unwashed, and some are missing classes entirely. Workers also say the shortage is making it difficult to prepare for work.

Frustration has deepened because households continue to receive water bills despite the lack of supply.

“We are suffering. Our taps are not flowing, yet we still get bills. It’s alarming,” one resident told reporters.

Community members are calling on the Ghana Water Company Limited and the Suame Municipal Assembly to urgently restore supply and provide a clear timeline for resolution. They say the problem is not isolated, with other communities in the region facing similar shortages.

Residents have warned they will escalate their actions if the situation persists.
