Asokwa Circuit Court Adjourns GPRTU Chairmanship Case to June 1, 2026

Asokwa Circuit Court 2, presided over by Her Honour Vida Achiaa Yeboah, has adjourned a case involving Mr Sumaila Boakye, an aspiring Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union [GPRTU], and transport operator Hamisu Ibrahim to June 1, 2026.

The case relates to a misunderstanding that arose during elections to choose a new regional chairman for the union over a year ago. It includes an alleged attempt to end Boakye’s life.

Prosecutor ASP Stephen Ofori told the court that the accused and his guarantor informed him they were unwell and unable to appear with their medical documentation, prompting the adjournment.

After the sitting, Mr Sumaila Boakye briefed the media and asked his supporters who joined him to the court to exercise restraint and wait for the vidict that will come from the court.
