
Asokwa Circuit Court 2, presided over by Her Honour Vida Achiaa Yeboah, has granted bail to Hamisu Ibrahim, Ashanti Regional Secretary of GPRTU.
He is standing trial for alleged attempted murder of Regional Chairman Sumaila Boakye during GPRTU’s election of new executives in Kumasi.
Mr. Ibrahim met the bail conditions set by the court. They include a GH₵50,000 bond with two sureties and a requirement to report to a police station every two weeks.
The case has been adjourned to June 15, 2026.

After the court sitting, Mr. Sumaila Boakye addressed the media. He asked his supporters who followed him to court to exercise restraint.
He also appealed to the national executives of GPRTU to intervene and help restore peace in the Ashanti Region so the Union can carry out its duties.
