Divorce Doesn’t Cancel Fatherhood – Bishop Isaac Osew Urges Men to Provide for Children

Bishop Isaac Osew, General Overseer of Generational Worship Centre at Akrantiebesa, in Konongo, Asante Akyem Central Municipality, has urged men not to abandon their parental responsibilities after marital breakups.

Speaking on Father’s Day celebration, the clergyman expressed concern over the growing number of street children, linking the trend to fathers who neglect their children after separation or divorce.

“A breakup in marriage should not stop a man from his responsibilities. When fathers walk away, the curse of neglect follows them, and the children suffer the most,” Bishop Osew said.

He also cautioned mothers against speaking negatively about their estranged husbands in front of their children, saying such comments breed hatred and emotional damage.

“Children need both parents, even if the marriage fails. Speaking ill of the father to the child only creates division and wounds that last a lifetime,” he added.

Bishop Osew called on parents, churches, and community leaders to promote co-parenting, mutual respect, and consistent financial/emotional support for children regardless of marital status.
