Six Private Security Guards Arrested Over Kwabenya Shooting Involving Hon. Adwoa Safo

The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards in connection with a shooting incident involving former MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, at Kwabenya on 21st June 2026.

According to a press release dated 21st June 2026 from the Regional Public Affairs Unit, Accra, police retrieved five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine with five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment during a search.

Police say personnel from the National Operations Directorate and Intelligence Directorate were on special duty when they received a distress call from a residence at Kwabenya and responded to the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate a ceremony was underway at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat alias Akofena when Hon. Adwoa Safo arrived and requested entry but was denied access.

Investigators further alleged that armed security personnel at the residence discharged firearms during the incident, resulting in injuries to Hon. Adwoa Safo. Her vehicle was also found with multiple gunshot marks.

The suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to Police Headquarters to assist ongoing investigations. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest any other persons connected with the incident.
