Late-Night Fire Outbreak Destroys Commercial Stores in Afari

A late-night fire outbreak on Sunday, June 28, 2026, left several traders in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal area counting their losses after an inferno ripped through a cluster of commercial stalls.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out unexpectedly overnight between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM.

The flames spread rapidly through the structures, completely engulfing about four to five local stores and reducing their contents to ashes before shop owners could salvage their goods.

Swift Response Averts Major Disaster

The situation was brought under control thanks to the timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). Firefighters responded swiftly to the distress call, arriving at the scene within an hour of the outbreak, around 11:00 PM.

Thanks to the tactical efforts of the crew, the raging fire was successfully contained and stopped from spreading to adjacent residential properties and neighboring shops.

While the exact cause of the outbreak remains unknown, preliminary investigations by fire officials are expected to commence today to determine what triggered the blaze. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
