Besease-Kaniago Queen Mother Leads Residents in Communal Labour to Repair Deplorable Roads

The Queen Mother of Besease-Kaniago in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region,Asantehemaa Brempon, Nana Gyamfuah Akosa Amoam Buadeh, has spearheaded a communal labour exercise to rehabilitate sections of the community’s deteriorated road network.

The initiative brought together residents from all walks of life, who worked collectively to improve the condition of the roads by filling potholes with sand packed into rice sacks.

The intervention was aimed at making the roads more motorable and ensuring safer movement for motorists, commercial drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians.

The poor state of the roads has long posed challenges to transportation, particularly during the rainy season, affecting economic activities and access to essential services.

The communal effort was therefore undertaken as a temporary measure to restore accessibility while the community awaits permanent rehabilitation by the appropriate authorities.

Addressing residents after the exercise, Nana Gyamfuah Akosa Amoam Buadeh expressed appreciation to the people for their overwhelming participation and unwavering commitment to communal labour. She said the success of the exercise demonstrated the community’s collective resolve to promote development through unity and self-help.

The Queen Mother encouraged residents to sustain the spirit of volunteerism and communal participation, stressing that community development is a shared responsibility that requires the active involvement of every citizen.

She also appealed to the government and other relevant agencies to prioritise the rehabilitation of the road to facilitate the movement of people and goods and improve the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.

Some residents who took part in the exercise commended the Queen Mother for her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the welfare of the community. They described her as a development-oriented traditional leader whose initiatives continue to inspire residents to contribute meaningfully to the progress of Besease-Kaniago.
