Self-proclaimed man of God vandalises part Otumfuo statue at Kejetia Roundabout

A self-proclaimed man of God, believed to be in his 30s, has vandalised part of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II statue at the Kejetia Roundabout in Kumasi.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on Saturday when the suspect reportedly climbed over the barricade surrounding the statue with a machete and began smashing parts of the monument.

An eyewitnesses,, told newsmen reporter Kwadwo Obeng Mireku that the man repeatedly struck the statue, severing its head.

Some of the traders around Kejetia roundabout told newsmen that the suspect calmly entered the restricted area with the machete before launching the attack on the statue.

After cracking the head of the statue, he stood there holding the machete and kept saying that no power is greater than God, worshipping gods is stupidity

The attack has left the head of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II statue completely destroyed, triggering widespread public reaction and intense discussions across the Ashanti Region.

Most people who spoke to newsmen said they suspect is not mad he is normal person but they suspect he was doing that for sacrifice.

The current state of the statue is good just that parts of the head has suffered cracks but it is under renovation
