The Pampaso Sub-Traditional Council in Kumasi,Ashanti region has invoked the powers of the ancestors and placed curses to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander and Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Boadi, over what it describes as the unlawful takeover of a parcel of land belonging to the council.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Pampaso Palace, Nana Kwabena Nuako, Akwamuhene of the Traditional Council, said the council woke up to find that a portion of land temporarily given to the Ghana Police Service to accommodate staff had been destroyed by an unknown contractor.

According to him, investigations revealed that the Ghana Police Command in collaboration with authorities of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly had allegedly given the land to a contractor to put up new buildings for business purposes without seeking permission from the traditional council, the rightful owners of the land.
“We will not allow the two authorities to continue showing disrespect to us,” Nana Kwabena Nuako vowed.

Nana Obeng Afriyie, Gyaasehene, who led members of the council to slaughter a sheep, invoked curses on any individuals taking over the land without the consent of the traditional council to serve as injunction.
He urged the Police Command and KMA to seek proper traditional and legal measures before undertaking any business on the land and stay away from using police officers to put fear and panic on them.
The council is calling on relevant stakeholders, including the Asantehene and the Ministry of Lands, to intervene and restore the land to the traditional council.
