GNFS Quells Warehouse Fire at South Industrial Area; No Casualties

Accra — April 19, 2026

The Ghana National Fire Service has extinguished a warehouse fire that broke out at South Industrial Area, Accra, on Saturday, April 18, 2026. No casualties were recorded.

The fire was reported at 6:10 p.m. at Believe in God Company, a one-storey building dealing in plastic disposable materials. The blaze affected the top-floor warehouse.

Firefighters from the Industrial Area Fire Station arrived at 6:16 p.m. They were joined by reinforcements from National Headquarters, Accra City, Trade Fair, and Madina Fire Stations, with a Turn-Table Ladder dispatched from Tema.

GNFS confined the fire by 10:23 p.m., brought it under control at 11:28 p.m., and fully extinguished it at 11:47 p.m.

While multiple plastic disposable materials were partially burnt and the top floor sustained damage, firefighters salvaged the ground floor, adjoining shops, and nearby structures, preventing further spread.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. GNFS is urging businesses and warehouse operators to strictly adhere to fire safety protocols.
