GFZA CEO Visits Two Free Zones Enterprises in Tema

On Wednesday, 15th April 2026, Dr Mary Awusi, CEO, led a team from the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) on a working visit to two Free Zones enterprises within the Tema Industrial Area. She said the visit formed part of their ongoing efforts to deepen engagement with our licensed enterprises, assess their operational challenges, and reinforce our commitment to industrial growth and effective aftercare support.

Their  first stop was at Aburi Energy, a renewable energy company engaged in the manufacturing of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and other clean energy solutions.

She revealed that, Since commencing operations in July 2025, the company has employed approximately 240 local staff and operates from a 30,000-square-metre facility. It is rapidly expanding, with a projected manufacturing capacity of up to 4 gigawatts by the end of 2026.

The company has already exported over 300 containers, valued at an estimated US$12 million. I commended the company for its impressive growth and contribution to export earnings and encouraged management to prioritize increased employment alongside automation to further enhance job creation.

Their second visit was to TetraCore Gas Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the TetraCore Energy Group. The company is focused on delivering compressed natural gas to industries using trucks, thereby providing cleaner and more efficient energy solutions for Ghana’s industrial sector.

During the visit, they engaged with management and gained valuable insights into their operations and production capacity.

They undertook guided tours at both facilities. I commended both companies for their contributions to Ghana’s industrialisation agenda and reiterated the Authority’s unwavering support in fostering a conducive business environment for Free Zones enterprises.

She was accompanied by the Deputy CEO of Operations, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu; Director of Corporate Affairs, PR & Aftercare, Dr. Patience Acorlor; Director of Administration, Hajia Hanatu Abubakar; Director of Monitoring, Mrs. Joyce Amamps; Director of Tema, Mr. Edward Adu Ntiamoah; Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Bilal Muazu Sulemana; Head of Compliance, Mr. Michael Larbi; and other officers of the Authority.
