AFIDE Ghana Officially Launches Teacher Experience Centre In Koforidua

AFIDE Ghana, the Ghana chapter of the African Digital Education Network, has officially launched its Teacher Experience Centre in Koforidua to promote digital learning and empower educators with modern teaching skills.

AFIDE Ghana is a member-based organization of ambitious schools committed to preparing learners for the 21st century through effective digital education, leadership, collaboration, and local ownership.

The network strengthens member schools through digital leadership development, peer learning, and practical solutions tailored to the Ghanaian educational context.

The initiative was established with the support of 1A Computer labs as a founding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner, demonstrating a long-term commitment to responsible digital education.

AFIDE Ghana also works closely with impact partners to support sustainable, school-led digital transformation across the country.

Speaking at the launch, Brianna Dika, Service Area Manager of AFIDE Ghana, said the Teacher Experience Centre was created to provide educators with a dedicated space to explore, experience, and adopt digital learning solutions.

As part of the launch activities, ICT teachers from selected schools in the Eastern Region participated in a Bronze Training Programme at the centre.

The training equipped participants with practical digital skills and innovative teaching approaches aimed at enhancing classroom instruction and improving learning outcomes.

She noted that the programme reflects AFIDE Ghana’s commitment to building a future where technology supports quality education and empowers both teachers and learners to thrive in the digital age.

On his part, Mr. Miracle Daniel Gavor of the Ghana Society for Education Technology (GSET) highlighted the positive impact the training has had on ICT teachers who participated.

According to him, the programme has enhanced their teaching competencies and improved the effectiveness of ICT instruction in their respective schools.

Pim de Bokx, Co-Founder of AFIDE Ghana and Acting General Manager, explained the vision behind the establishment of the organization.

He emphasized the need for greater autonomy for school leaders in making decisions that positively impact academic work.

According to him, many decisions currently require approval from the Ghana Education Service Directorate, a process that can sometimes delay implementation and affect teaching and learning activities.

He expressed hope that initiatives such as AFIDE Ghana would help school leaders make more informed and impactful decisions regarding digital education.

Some of the teachers who participated in the training also shared their experiences, describing the programme as practical, insightful, and beneficial to their professional development.

They expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills acquired would help improve ICT teaching and learning in their schools.
